Order Sample Charges

We always recommend a sample be produced for your project to provide an accurate example of what to expect on your final order. Our process for producing samples is very specific, as we go through the entire production process from prepress to final packaging to produce a printed sample on the press methods factored for your order. This means we will start up a high speed inkjet web press to produce a single copy, which is a long process, but essential to providing an accurate press sample. The same process applies for toner printed samples, we go through a full press makeready and setup for a single copy. We also keep one copy for our records, to ensure that we have a baseline to run the final order to if the sample is approved as is.

 

If you require a sample for your order, please be aware that the sample charges are non-refundable or applied to a final order.

 

Sample charges are as follows:

Hardcover Perfect Case Bound

For hardcover perfect case bound books, your sample will include a fully printed interior and cover (including cover coatings like lamination, if applicable) but will not include any special features like foil stamping, spot UV or debossing/embossing.

  • unbound / looseleaf – this means the book will be printed but not bound, which saves bindery setup costs
    • $125 plus applicable taxes

 

  • bound – this means the book will be bound
    • $250 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is less than or equal to 200)
    • $350 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is greater than or equal to 201)

 

Softcover Perfect Bound

For softcover perfect bound books, your sample will include a fully printed interior and cover (including cover coatings like lamination, if applicable) but will not include any special features like foil stamping, spot UV or debossing/embossing.

  • unbound / looseleaf – this means the book will be printed but not bound, which saves bindery setup costs
    • $125 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is less than or equal to 200)
    • $250 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is greater than or equal to 201)

 

  • bound – this means the book will be bound
    • $250 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is less than or equal to 200)
    • $350 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is greater than or equal to 201)

 

Wire-O or Plastic Coil Bound

 

For wire-0 or plastic coil bound books, your sample will include a fully printed interior and cover (including cover coatings like lamination, if applicable) but will not include any special features like foil stamping, spot UV or debossing/embossing. Extra charges may apply for special coloured wire.

  • unbound / looseleaf – this means the book will be printed but not bound, which saves bindery setup costs
    • $125 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is less than or equal to 200)
    • $250 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is greater than or equal to 201)

 

  • bound – this means the book will be bound
    • $250 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is less than or equal to 200)
    • $350 plus applicable taxes (if the interior page count is greater than or equal to 201)

 

Saddle Stitched Bound

For saddle-stitched bound books, your sample will include a fully printed interior and cover (including cover coatings like lamination, if applicable) but will not include any special features like foil stamping, spot UV or debossing/embossing.

  • unbound / looseleaf – this means the book will be printed but not bound, which saves bindery setup costs
    • $75 plus applicable taxes

 

  • bound – this means the book will be bound
    • $125 plus applicable taxes
